Find free training to become a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) driver!
The UK government has introduced Skills Bootcamps in response to the driver shortage, including free HGV driving training.

· Overview
To become a HGV driver, you need to gain a professional driving qualification, known as a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence ( CPC).
There are different training courses that can help you gain your Driver CPC.
The training that helps you qualify as an HGV driver is different to the training that keeps you up to date with your Driver CPC once you have qualified.
· Skills Bootcamps
Government-funded Skills Bootcamps are free training courses. Courses last up to 16 weeks.
This program not only allows students to learn for free but also offers competitive pay and full-time benefits.
You can also take courses to upgrade your licence or qualification - for example, if you want to transport dangerous goods such as petrol, or tow a heavier trailer.
· Who can apply
You can apply if you are:
Age: 19 years and over.
Requirements: Hold a full car (Class B) driver's licence.
Offer: The provider offering your course may have additional application criteria.

· How much does it cost
Skills bootcamps are free and include all of the following costs:
Getting a provisional driver's licence, including a medical exam.
Sitting 4 Professional Driver Competence Certificate (CPC) exams, with one retake for each exam.
· How to apply
You can apply for a Skills Bootcamp directly through your training provider.
Find a provider by searching for Skills Bootcamp courses on the National Careers Service website.
